Just as whites deprived blacks of certain basics, we too are indirectly depriving blacks today of respect, depriving blacks of chances with a better education, and a feeling that they cannot legitimately contribute to society in a significant way. So, what Frederick Douglass started it is up to our generation to finish. We can see the finish line, we just have to have the persistence to keep on running and cross the line.
