Andrew Lloyd Weber originally composed Jesus Christ Superstar as a musical play, before it was made into a musical movie. The play follows the events of the last few years of Jesus' life, as written in the gospels. For the most part, the movie faithfully follows the play and history.

glitzed up with costumes and music and lies to make it more 'interesting.' Why is it that when people try to make things more 'interesting,' they end up totally construing the original thing? I feel that the music, costumes, and 'love' story did nothing for the true story of Jesus' death on the cross but make it something unreal, something to laugh at. Shame on Andrew Lloyd Weber for writing something so shameful.
