A Good Man is Hard to Find

O'Connor's short story on, "A Good Man is Hard to Find" is a good example of foreshadowinging, violence, and realisim. The main characters in this story is the Grandmother (antagonist), Baily, (Grandmother's Son), Unnamed (Children's mother), John Wesley (Baily's son), June Star (Baily's daughter)and the misfits. The story revolves around the family vacation to Florida. The grandmother complains about having to go to Florida, she would rather go to East Tennessee. And the grandmother …

…the men into the woods. Baily makes sure to tell his mother that he will be right back. This is the only time he reassures his mother of his love for her. The grandmother begins to see that she could very well die, and continues to plead for her live. The misfit, is as honest as a misfit can be, and tells the grandmother, that he is not a good man. Subsequently, he shoots her.
