"Even though cultures differ, people are basically the same."
This is a statement that depends a lot on what you mean with basically. I think people are pretty much the same all around the world but and they definitely could end up being almost the same if they was raised in exactly the same way and had the exact same possibilities in life.

values are probably the same, everyone wants peace etc., but the way of achieving these goals differs. It isn't really interesting to know if people would have turned out the same if they wasn't affected by cultures because I think it's a great thing that there is such things as different cultures and different religions, but I would like to have the opportunity to examine different cultures closer to see what fits me the best.
