…of Abigail Williams are what prompted the Salem witch trials. Her selfishness ultimately causes pain and suffering to countless numbers of innocent people and to herself as well. Although, these unjust prosecutions seem to have caused nothing but terrible damage, they may save modern society from experiencing such a tragedy. The silver lining of the dark cloud of Salem can only be put to use if we are careful not to let history repeat itself.
