The Olympic ceremonies today are very different from the ceremonies held thousands of years ago. On the 25th Olympiad, they added the Pencratium and chariot races. The Olympic Games continued without trouble until 146 B.C. when the Romans took over and ended the Olympics. Then, in 1896 A.D. they started up again as what we see today and know as the modern Olympics.
