Andrew Jackson Andrew Jackson was born in a backwoods settlement to Scotch-Irish immigrants on March 15, 1767, Andrew Jackson was to become the first "rags to riches" President the country had ever seen. He grew up in South Carolina and fought in the Revolutionary War at only thirteen and later become a major general in the War of 1812. …his career I would say that Andrew Jackson was my kind of man, he never backed down from a challenge no matter how much he had to sacrifice to get there. He had strong will and determination that led him from being a young man fighting in a war to becoming Tennessee's first Representative, a state supreme court judge, major general in command of a states militia and became the President of the United States.
