…The battle of San Jacinto lasted only 18 minutes. Although they were out numbered, Texans killed 630 Mexicans and captured 700 more. The following day Texans captured Santa Anna himself. They forced him to sign a treaty granting Texas its independence. Afterwards he was sentenced to an execution. Santa Anna requested for his bed which was brought into the camp. He laid on it and didn't sleep a wink that night, being of constant dread of his Assassination.
