Lactose (often called milk sugar), is a disaccharide of milk; one molecule of galactose and one molecule of glucose. Galactose and glucose in lactose are catalyzed by the enzyme lactase. Both maltose and lactose are isomers (same molecular formula, different arrangement in structure) of C12H22011.
