Octavio Paz was a Mexican writer, poet, and diplomat and the winner of the 1990 Nobel Prize in Literature. Throughout his life, he has influenced many other Hispanic writers, and has set a foundation for future generations of Hispanic writers to overcome. …it. <Tab/>One of Paz's most renowned accomplishments are his writing of "The Labyrinth of Solitude", which is what many believe earned him the Nobel Prize. He also managed to establish two major magazines, the Plural and the Vuelta. In 1980, he was named honorary doctor at Harvard. Recent prizes include the Cervantes award in 1981 - the most important award in the Spanish-speaking world - and the prestigious American Neustadt Prize in 1982.
