Book review of The Time Machine by H.G. Wells.

H. G. Wells' The Time Machine explores the darker side of mankind's future that has succumbed to an extremely darwinistic evolution. We become familiarized with the Time Traveler, the book's main character, by means of a fictitious author who also remains nameless throughout the text. …because they create a timelessness that gives universality to the story. Wells' use of description and lack of complex plot twists lends the book to easy readability and enjoyment. The lack of surprises and unexpected occurrences tend to cause one's attention to wander. Although far from perfect, The Time Machine transcends the bounds of simple science fiction and lends itself to a social speculation that leaves the reader pondering the feasibility of such a future.
