The lack of friendship shares much of the blame for creating Romeo and Juliet's mental states, and indeed this is tragic, for however much trouble we have in this world, we should always be able to count on our friends to back us up. Romeo and Juliet either couldn't or didn't trust their 'friends', and to have no one whom you can trust would be one of the most sorrowful things I can imagine.
