Compare & Contrast the Aims & Achievements of Canning & Castleraigh. Who Was More Successful & Why? When Canning and Castleraigh each came into office as foreign secretary they both had many aims that they hoped to achieve during their time in office. …things during his time in office, however it was not to the same extent as Castleraigh did. He managed to help Greece win independence all though that triumph was not totally filled with success and it ended up with Russia controlling trade in Eastern Europe. Canning was more liked than Castleraigh because he was better at explaining things. However I still think that Castleraigh was more successful because he achieved better and more important things.
