Implying a Pedophile
In "The Walrus and the Carpenter," by Lewis Carroll, the dual identity, the oysters, the eating of the oysters, and the implied guilt felt afterwards, can lead a reader to believe the poem is about a pedophile. Many people on various websites claim that Lewis Carroll was a pedophile because of his interest in young girls (Encarta). He has taken many pictures, mostly of young girls, and a lot of them nude.

knew the true meaning of this poem. Maybe Lewis did not want people to know he was a pedophile, but he did make it clear how much he adored young girls. Whether or not it was sexual, only Lewis and the girls know that. It is up to each different reader to decide what she thinks or interprets the poem to be. Would one not agree this poem clarifies that Lewis Carroll was a pedophile?
