…will ever be remembered as a very sad day. He did die in a manner befitting a champion however. His team, Dale Earnhardt, Inc. took the top two spots in the race, and his son, Dale Jr. finished second and Michael Waltrip finished first as Earnhardt himself was headed for third as he was holding the pack back.
