The Declaration of Independence was the foundation of America, societal reform and the constitutional government. The 'founding fathers' intended it to represent all the rights innate to man and man's place in nature and society, with a principal concept of democracy. America was to be known as 'the land of the free', and the fathers wanted a country free from prejudice, but also free of spirit. We can be assured that it was approached with good intent and it was the beginning of real reform, that the fathers had laid a solid foundation for American society.
