After he is given a push in the right direction, Telemakhos faces up to his responsibilities and continues his journey, both geographical and spiritual, with little outside pressure. As shown in the preceding passages, Telemakhos is a very different man in Book Four than one would have expected from the boy in the beginning of Book One.
