The odds were immediately against the blues but despite being one player down, they immediately made their presence felt with a volley of shots at the goal, but their attacks came to nothing as shot after shot failed to find the back of the net. There was no choice but to decide the match on golden goal. After the whites lost a precious occasion that could have sealed victory, the blues grabbed the winning goal. In the end the score read Blues 8 Whites 7.
