Early Settlers Life was very hard for settlers and immigrants in America in the 19th century, and even more so for women. They had to struggle through many tough experiences to "make it" in America. Most people lived hard, miserable lives, but some persevered to become wealthy and live happy lives. Immigrants had to face a lot just to make it to America. …to. It's not that I wouldn't be able to make it, its just that I wouldn't want to. I like things the way I have them now. I like TV and cars and being around people to talk to. If my neighbors were like 10 miles away i would get really bored. The frontier would be hard, lonely and boring and take more time just to get the bare necessities then I would like to spend.
