made it in sport, and others will make it in the future, but the role of sports in the lives of blacks has been blown out of proportion. Some black families rely on their children to become successful in the sport world, but it is hard to do so. Furthermore, although African-Americans are well represented on many sports teams, the day-to-day lives and experiences of players and coaches are still full of prejudice and discrimination.
