An ecosystem is as community of interactions between the biotic and abiotic elements of an environment. Management strategies are used to try and protect these ecosystems each with effective and ineffective components. There is a variety of traditional strategies such as Dugong Harvesting and Fire stick Farming as used by indigenous people in the past. There are numerous management strategies both traditional and contemporary ranging in scale. Each strategy has effective and ineffective aspects and evaluating the positive and negative I have found that in my opinion the Fire stick Farming and Total Catchment Management are the most effective at reaching their objectives compared to the Dugong Harvesting which is no longer used and the GBRMPA which only protects a small portion of the reef.
