Development over the life cycle can be favorably influenced by close associations with companion animals particularly during childhood and old age. The development of empathy, self-esteem, self-control, humanity and autonomy can be promoted in children through raising pets. The uncountable benefits a pet can provide and the endless and unconditional love that is shared makes pet ownership essential in children's lives. 6
