Ensuing from the conjecture of an isolated monarchy and a revolution of human thought within the people, one may observe here the fundamental endeavor of mankind to rule himself*. Thus the French Revolution and corresponding disposition of mind found within the people act as the foundation for our modern democratic state and fashion the development of Western civilization.
