Though there had been misunderstands and disagreements between Hamlet and Gertrude, they had never stopped caring for and trusting each other. Their regard for each other was subtle and downplayed, but it was still there nonetheless. Hamlet's tragic flaw could have been attributed to his love for his mother, and as such, eventually led to his down fall.
