His underlining reasons for being part of the tavern scene are apparently a little less obvious than one might perceive until the reasons he states and ways he treats his good friend are examined. Once all of the true ideas portrayed by Hal are revealed it becomes much more apparent that he has ulterior motives than just living an easy life.
