people may be more advanced than the stage that their age group is in, Kohlberg's guidelines give us a measuring factor upon which the maturity of an individual can be measured. Although there are some weaknesses to Kohlberg's theory, it still offers a valuable insight to the mental maturity of adolescents and children. It is for this reason that Kohlberg's theory is still around today.
