Everyone has bad days, and everyone feels extremely sad or angry sometimes in his or her life. When those negative feelings are prolonged, then perhaps they have acquired a form or depression. Depression afflicts over 18 million people every year. With nearly twice the amount of cases of depression, women are at higher risk for depression. In times of external and internal conflicts, men who lack outlets for their energies struggle to maintain their inner selves and feel out of control. Without relief, depression occurs. Men's experience of being depressed is defined by their experience of being male, therefore making depression for men more sever and difficult to handle than depression for women.
