Captain Miller showed personal courage by just getting off the boat in the beginning of the movie. Personal courage is facing fear, danger, or adversity (physical or moral). Seeing all those soldiers being shot down around him, having an explosion really close to him and still being able to lead his troops shows personal courage. Captain Miller also showed personal courage when he lead the way all the way, up to where the enemy was. …

…his obligation, Private Caparzo was shot and later died. Had he been able to control his group this may not have happened. Captain Miller was able to tell his higher exact details about the enemy, their weapons, and their capabilities. I think that that is a really example of him fulfilling his obligations or doing his duty. He was able to fight, lead, and take all of that information in all at the same time.
