Military Service in Germany

Every man in Germany has to join the military service for eighteen months or serve an alternative social service. However, an examination is given to those men who intend to render the alternative service that lasts 22 months. Less than thirty percent of all those who take the exam pass the very demanding test. …old friends start to draw back from the young soldiers and they are left alone with their comrades. For a lot of men that causes an inner conflict. They are not happy with their life in the service, but at home they are lonely without the old friends. The military service is certainly one of the most difficult periods in a man's life and a lot of young German soldiers have difficulty coping with it.
