What do the terms "rational" and "irrational" mean? Rational means sane or intelligent. Irrational is just the opposite. Some poor people do behave irrational as well as some rich people. People of lower economic class remain poor, not because of irrational choices, but many times because of limited choices and limited opportunities.

also people want to stay poor for these reasons or for any reasons. Its just difficult to break the cycle either way; from rich to poor and poor to rich. There are so many barricades, such as educational advantages, to keep everything in line. And as for Lawrence Mead and her believers maybe if rich people behaved rational, there would hardly be poor people.
