In the novel "Riding the Bus with My Sister" by Rachael Simon I found that the many issues and ideas developed in the book are very important in today's society and apply to most people in some way or another.
Probably the issue dealt with the most in the book is tolerance for the physically or mentally challenged. Throughout the book there are many instances of this for example Gus, one of the bus drivers,

counts. Many of these drivers have different viewpoints but they are all very developed.
As you can see there are many issue presented in this book. Some are in detail while others aren't explained leaving you to find their true meaning. I learned a lot from this book mainly that it's the inside that counts. I now realize how hard it is for the family of the mentally retarded to raise and live with them.
