Risk management reduces the number of bombshells and leads to a better understanding of the most likely outcomes of negative results. Moreover, if potential risks are identified even before they occur, they can be transferred, shaped and at the very least accepted. The key is to have a contingency plan in place of each risk in the case that they indeed occur.
