Should an organisations engage in CSR?

Introduction: The concept of CSR is complicated and, contested and unclear boundaries (Lantos, 2001; Moon, 2002). The scope of SCR is wide and difficult to define (Hemingway, 2002). …lies outside the company mission. I agree and support Lantos's view of strategic philanthropy CSR that is good for business and society and all corporations should consider this view seriously. A good example supporting the strategic CSR is in the case of Malden Mill burned factory, the owner continued to pay workers salaries until the new plant was built. This resulted an increase in productivity by 25% and quality defects decreased by 2/3 (Daviss, 2001, cited in Lantos, 2001).
