however African Americans tried to reach their goal, their unity during a time that discrimination, and racism ran the country accomplished a tremendous amount of goals. Many acts were passed to help prevent discrimination, but more importantly the perception of African Americans was changed for a lot of Americans. Although the civil rights movement advanced African Americans in ways undefinable there are still many obstacles that African Americans still have to try and overcome today.
