…factors contribute to her final death scene in the ocean. From the beginning of the book to the end, she is an entirely different person. She awakens within herself feelings that most women of the time no doubt had, but were too ashamed and scared to act on. She merely went the extra step and did something about them. For her time, she was a radical, and because of this she was also very courageous.
