Primary sources such as actual recorded speeches from King Henry II, or records of clothing, and people of those times suggest that the movie depicts the time it was supposed to be set in. I personally also had a feel throughout the movie in which scenes were accurately depicted. After all, only an insane family as such would hate each other wholeheartedly and yet stay together.
