The story of Frankenstein was first written by Mary Shelley as a challenge from her friend Lord Byron while in Geneva on holiday with her husband Percy Shelley. The challenge was for each of them to write a horror story. Mary Shelley took up this challenge and Frankenstein was born. The book is not as terrifying as it was because when it was written there was a large fear of the unknown about cloning and the recreation of life, but now there is a certain knowledge of the effects of cloning. This is due to successful scientific projects such as 'Dolly' the Sheep. Overall I believe that Frankenstein will still be relevant for many years but slowly will lose it's terror factor
