"Give me liberty or give me death!" These moving words by Patrick Henry succeeded in inspiring American Patriots towards revolution. It was this idea of liberty at all costs that essentially founded the great United States of America. Ironically, it was precisely this principle which they fought for so passionately that they would deny to African Americans for approximately 300 years by making them slaves. …not when their only crime was being born black. I believe that if we truly are as strong a nation as we brag of being, we would have found our strengths and learned from our mistakes elsewhere without doing such irreparable damage to people's s lives. Yet, history is history and no one can change it, so we all we have left to do is learn from it and hope that we don't repeat it.
