Virginians came looking to strike it rich, so Virginia was nearly wiped out due to their lack of vision and preparedness. Tobacco, after saving the colony, required plenty of labor, which separated the colony into LandOwners and Laborers. More Laborers were needed and as a result, slavery found a foothold in society.
