When Do We Let Go and Let God?
Barbara Huttman's " Crime of Compassion", is a very admirable story. Huttman begins the essay with the dramatic scene of her as a guest on the Phil Donahue show. The illustration of the "fatted calf and the audience a two hundred-strong flock of vultures hungering to pick up the bones"(555) brought graphic detail on how the public views the controversial decision she made as a nurse and friend.

In her conclusion she speaks again of the television show audience calling her a murderer, and how perhaps she is guilty. "Until there is legislation making it a criminal act to code a patient who has requested the right to die, we will all risk the same fate as Mac."(557) The right and knowledge to prolong life has saved millions, but how far is too far when nature has called time and time again.
