What is normal? Some children think normal is wearing three layers of makeup sitting under a dryer for 2 hours until their hair is done and posing on stage hoping to be the next "fill-in-the-blank." This is just an average day in the life of "child stars" in beauty pageants that began in the 1960's. They consist of modeling sportswear, evening attire, dance and talent. …So why do mothers put their daughters through these awful things? I don't know. There is no answer. They shouldn't be allowed to display little girls like dolls on stage making sure that every false eyelash in place. All of this is far from normal. Mothers who push their daughters into doing this are wrong and should let the child participate in activities they are interested in instead of activities their parents are interested in.
