…Bertha had a severe bronchitis attack that made her heart weak. On October 31, 1919, Bertha died at eighty years of age. That was around the same time the Germans surrendered to France unconditionally to end World War I (which I got out of my own knowledge). Approximately three and a half years later, Whilhelm Conrad Roentgen died on February 10, 1923 from carcinoma of the rectum. He was buried beside his wife at the family plot in Giessen.
