Throughout the play Juliet's character is continually portrayed as being innocent, affectionate, naïve and all-consumed by love. Shakespeare uses a number of language techniques such as rhyme, prose similes, metaphors and oxymoron to convey these characteristics in her. She could appear precocious to audiences today - being only 14 and being so emotional, yet Juliet is just a true romantic who values love above all.
